This workshop introduces advanced techniques in pulp painting including pigmenting and color mixing, working with additives to modify the pulp fluidity and working with a deckle box to form painterly sheets of paper. Each session includes a hands-on lecture, technical demonstration, viewing of works in the Studio K collection and lots of experimentation. You will learn how to pigment natural fibers including basics in color theory, using additives like retention aid, formation aid and methyl cellulose to create different effects, and using the deckle box to make marbled sheets.

Each workshop includes a Show & Tell Hour scheduled two weeks after the class to pick up finished artworks.
